J. Holiday, the church-bred Washington, D.C. native, proclaims in many interviews that he is trying to introduce storytelling back in R&B music, but unfortunately, he hardly attains his goal.

After publicly airing out his beef with R&B crooner Chris Brown, Atlanta singer/songwriter The-Dream is now apologizing for his statements.

When it's on, the debut from D.C. native J. Holiday offers some sweet, passive pleasures. For a handful of hot cuts, Holiday turns out brash, hook-centric R&B that complements silky singing with some fine beats.

New albums from J. Holiday, Soulja Boy, The Federation, Boyz N Da Hood and Trey Songz are hitting record store shelves today (October 2); while the hype hasn't reached 50 Cent vs. Kanye West proportions it should be interesting to watch R&B and hip-hop bump heads this Super Tuesday.

J. Holiday's smooth pillow talk has wooed so many listeners to Bed that the seductive ballad is one of fall's fastest-rising hits. The song is No. 6 on the Nielsen BDS national radio airplay chart, which includes all formats. It's also No. 1 on Radio & Records' urban chart and No. 6 on the rhythmic chart.

"The current state of R&B is lacking story tellers right now," said 23 years old singer/songwriter J. Holiday. The heavy music Line Group/Capital Records debut album entitled 'Back Of My Lac' in stores October 2nd, will spotlight a fresh new talent whose influences includes Marvin Gaye, Jodeci, Tupac Shakur and The Fugees.

J. Holiday doesn't have an album out yet. (It's due in October.) He doesn't have much experience, either. (He's just 22 years old.) But this "street soul" singer from Washington, D.C. stirs up buzz like a pro.

Some may not even be familiar with this young man, but J. Holiday has been lighting up radio with his second single, "Bed," which is written by Dream (Nivea’s husband) who brought to you Rihanna’s "Umbrella." And it’s produced by Los Da Mystro. J. Holiday is set to release his first album, Back of My Lac on October 2nd.

"My sound is old school soul with a little mix of hip-hop," explains J. Holiday. "If I had to give it a name I would call it 'street soul.' Nowadays the 'hood has little to listen to within R&B. I want my music to be the soundtrack to their lives and beyond."
